Root Canals

Root canals are common procedures that treat the source of severe tooth pain. A root canal can save a tooth with an abscess or advanced infection, so you don’t need to undergo a tooth extraction. If you have severe tooth pain and have been putting off visiting a dentist for a root canal, we invite you to schedule an appointment with us. Root canal therapy is designed to relieve your pain, not cause more. Our skilled team can help restore comfort and health to your tooth!

What Is a Root Canal?

A root canal involves removing the infected pulp from inside your tooth and replacing it with a filler material. Adult teeth can survive without the pulp, making root canal therapy a great solution for preserving your natural teeth. Once infected pulp is removed and the inside of your tooth is cleaned and sealed, our dentist will cover your tooth with a dental crown. This ensures that your tooth remains strong and functional, while looking natural. Root canal therapy can take up to two hours to complete, depending on the severity of the infection.

Signs You Need a Root Canal

  • Chronic tooth pain
  • Tooth sensitivity
  • Tooth discoloration
  • Swollen gums
  • Tooth pain when biting
  • Tooth mobility

Does a Root Canal Hurt?

Root canal therapy has a stereotype of being painful, but the opposite is actually true. Our goal with root canals is to alleviate your tooth pain, not cause more! Root canals are typically no more complicated than getting a large cavity filling. Our dentist will always first apply local anesthetic to numb your tooth and gums before beginning treatment. We can also provide additional sedation if you need assistance relaxing during the procedure.

Don’t Wait to Treat Your Tooth Pain

The thought of undergoing a root canal procedure can be scary. But the longer you wait to treat your tooth pain, the greater the risk we won’t be able to save your tooth and you’ll need an extraction. If you’ve been living with tooth pain and sensitivity, we recommend that you schedule an appointment with our office as soon as possible!
